Diets for Brides-To-Be (BNN) Weddings are a joyful time. So
why do so many brides and grooms-to-be stress about the inevitable attention,
often causing them to crash diet mere weeks, even days, before the big
day? As Chief Nutritionist at eDiets.com, I see the angst-filled questions
marriage goers post on our support boards. And myself having recently
married, I can relate. From my experience as a nutritionist and as a bride, Ive put together tips for people about to launch a deadline-inspired diet. The right goals: Plan
to lose about 1-2 pounds a week without sacrificing health, nutrition
or energy. Allow yourself enough
time to lose weight at this healthful pace. Smart choices, healthy changes:
Instead of fried foods, choose baked, grilled or poached. Also try unsweetened
apple butter or a "light" spread rather than butter or cream
cheese. Portion size matters:
When eating out, stop when youre no longer hungry and take the
rest home. The more often you do this, the quicker your stomach will
feel full and satisfied with lesser quantities. Exercise: The best facilitator
of short-term weight loss is activity. Aim for at least 30 minutes,
4-5 times a week. Keep a journal: People
who record what they eat, when they eat, and how they feel when they
eat develop a real understanding about their eating habits, and theyre
more likely to succeed. Drink water: Many confuse
hunger with thirst. Susan Burke is Chief Nutritionist at www.eDiets.com, the leading online diet and healthy living destination.
